i haven't seen the brand new blueberry tea persona yet but i know i'll be excited to see it because at first, i wondered what the fuss was about when the persona came out, people kept gushing about it saying it's proton's great creation but i thought it wasn't all that great but now that mama bought it, it might be more than meets the eye ;]

so i have a journal cum diary for 2007 and let's just go through the BEST RECAPS OF MY LIFE :)

3 Jan 2007:
for sem 4, i was appointed PKK (Deputy Head of Class) for my cohort 2, my coursemates, not big a deal but i was contented to sort of lead my class. i remembered protesting at first and then learnt to take it positively :)

6 Jan 2007:
started to really play pingpong at college :)

18 Jan 2007:
was appointed as scriptwriter for the play, Visitors to Kenny Hill for the class to perform in panggung budaya as part of the course, selected drama and plays.

20 Jan 2007:
went to Eye of Malaysia at noon but i heard the sight at night was more spectacular! so want to go at night too~

29 Jan 2007:
according to my diary, 'something happened' but i can't recall, hahaha :p

1 Feb 2007:
went to Malacca with half of my coursemates to do a field work for Hubungan Etnik. the field work we chose to do was finding out as much as we can about the lives of the Portuguese people living in the Portuguese Settelement in Malacca. had fun and gain lots of experiences in the 3 days 2 nights trip :D

14 March 2007:
my coursemates and i performed Visitors to Kenny Hill at Panggung Budaya round 8-8.30pm. Alhamdulillah, finished successfully in a state of euphoria :)

26 Monday 2007:
set up a stall selling Brotherhood Badges for the mini convo fair, an unforgettable experience of being a salesperson, huhu..

i found out i was elected to be JMK! numb.

lost my 3200 Nokia hp :(

bought a Sony Ericsson Z710i but until now dunno if that was the best decision made though the hp has everything i want, huhu..

Mai left for England and the entry in the diary said that 'i cried and felt terribly sad...the house was empty...sob...

24 September 2007:
breaking of fast with the newly appointed Vice Chansellor of UPSI and there was awards given for excellent students and i was one of the recipient, Alhamdullilah :)

29 September 2007:
went to UM for a dialogue session with international students studying there :)

16 November 2007:
went to the Penguin Book Warehouse Sale, best and spoilt for choices!!
not planning to buy anymore books until the next warehouse sale, hehe :p

26 November 2007:
went to the zoo and fell more in love with the big cats! :D

was part of a team to organize KRJ Petaling Explorace.

that's all i guess, the MOST NOTABLE events in my life throughout the year 2007 :)

these are all big events that happened but sometimes, it's not the grand events that happened that affected me most, it's the small ones that would stay with me for a long time, a bit cliche but that's the truth and i do so believe that i mature year after year, if not, hmm...i'm a rotten banana :p

so what's my new year's resolution? to be continued...

How DARE you shoot that tiger!!

i woke up and opened the internet. and i always check the online news. and there was this news:

SAN FRANCISCO - Police shot the 300-pound Siberian tiger to death after a Christmas Day rampage that began when the tiger escaped from an enclosure surrounded by what zoo officials said are an 18-foot wall and a 20-foot moat. Two brothers who also were visiting the zoo were severely mauled.

The same tiger, a 4-year-old female named Tatiana, ripped the flesh off a zookeeper's arm just before Christmas a year ago while the woman was feeding the animal through the bars. A state investigation faulted the zoo, which installed better equipment at the Lion House, where the big cats are kept.

It was unclear how long the tiger had been loose before it was killed. The three visitors were attacked around closing time Tuesday on the 125-acre zoo grounds. Four officers hunted down and shot the animal after police got a 911 call from a zoo employee.
The zoo has a response team that can shoot animals. But zoo officials and police described the initial moments after the escape as chaotic.

The first attack happened right outside the tiger's enclosure — the victim died at the scene. Another was about 300 yards away, in front of a cafe. The police chief said the animal was mauling the man, and when officers yelled at it to stop, it turned toward them and they opened fire.

Tatiana came from the Denver Zoo a few years ago, with officials hoping she would mate with a male tiger. There are more than 600 endangered Siberian tigers living in captivity worldwide.

there's a debate now about how the tiger escaped. some say there's a human involved but why?! however, Sy Montgomery, a naturalist and author whose books include "Spell of the Tiger," said she thinks such a jump is possible. Not every tiger could do it, she said, "but like human beings, every creature has its own amazing athletes."

i dunno but i was VERY UPSET!!

yes, maybe the tiger was violent since it had killed a person but to shoot it just like that??!! it's absolutely unacceptable for me!! and then they lament that the siberian tiger is facing extinction!!

eeee, seriously, i LOVE tigers and i am deeply affected by the news (cewah)
but it's true...

esp since recently, i have gone to the national zoo and went around the BIG CAT families' cages like, 4-5 times and i watched them with so much fascination *_*

as for the incident that just happened this week at the national zoo, when i first read it, i was [i'm sorry to say] on the leopard's side. i tried to remembered Manja's cage and tried to visualize how Manja could have scratched the poor girl but i thought it was unlikely, seriouslyyy~

ok, maybe i shouldn't say anything about that of fear that some people will condemn me but i still believed that the leopard was innocent...

could i actually be happy and unhappy at the same time?!

i am unhappy because of my short hols (only a month compared to others but not very fruitful so maybe there's a reason my hols are kept short, huhu)

i am unhappy because i still (don't care!!) want to be at home [sulking]

BUT

i am HAPPY because of my results, ALHAMDULILLAH :)
once again, i made abah mama proud, this one and each and every semester is for my parents [beaming]

and this one GOOD NEWS made all the unhappiness fade away~

Just as Prophet Ibrahim was tested throughout his life to see if he would submit or not, so will we be tested to see whether we submit to Allah's commands or refuse! Know that toils, struggles, and hardships will accompany our quest to obedience. But if we obey, we will be in the company of the likes of Prophet Ibrahim and his family in Paradise, as Allah says:

[All who obey Allah and the messenger shall dwell in the company of those whom Allah has favored with His Grace: the prophets, the sincere lovers of Truth, the martyrs, and the Righteous who do good. Ah! What a beautiful companionship!] (An-Nisaa' 4:69)

and we MUST target to be in Paradise, ameen :)

this year is different because my family is celebrating eid ul-adha in shah alam and not in terengganu because abah has to organize qurban in sirim so the balik kampung trip is delayed. and i miss mai always but she's happily away in msm, well, good for her ;)

nway, today, we cooked fried beef, bbq beef, soup beef, hmm...what else :p



and nad gave us rendang beef, wah, so many beef!! and there's still some more in the freezer and sirim is gonna give more and then balik kampung and...i dunno if i can handle all the meat!!



well, sure i can but my teeth is already hurting and besides, i am keeping tabs on the amount of meat that i'm eating, i am fully aware and i am gonna control!!

why can't i be more like my dad?!

Bismillah, Assalamualaikum :)

yesterday abah found out that he lost his wallet in the morning but he didn't wake the whole house to tell, only mama knew at that time so when we woke up, mama told everyone to help out but abah went to work already. which just makes me astounded that abah treated a missing wallet with everything innit like it wasn't an emergency :?

IF IT WERE ME, i would AAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! where's my wallet?! where's everything??!! and my heart would be thumping wildly, i would get clammy, i would jump to conclusions, i would practically force people (my family esp) to help search, i would want to cry, i would get agitated, frustrated, all stressed out, sulky, panicky, tensed, etc, etc...

yes, that would probably be me...so unlike papa...

mama said that he didn't even tell her what he was looking for it in the first place, just when mama ask then abah told. and he went to work as usual! i was baffled because if it were me then i would have definitely taken the whole day off! besides, abah reported everything missing in the afternoons!

he lost not a lot of money, but his IC, credit cards, all the points card, basically all the very important cards that you expect a working person to be carrying. it disturb me to see abah losing everything but it didn't seem to be disturbing abah at all! abah showed characteristics of a TRUE father, attributes that i looked up to so much and idolize and wished that i too have all those traits.

and i want to as i see abah doing his normal everyday routines...
because if it were me, i would have been very anxious and restless :s

so hope this will be a lesson for me to always train myself to be calm, cool and collected, and i wonder why haven't i got abah's genes on those particular qualities, hmm...

explorace KRJ

Bismillah, Assalamualaikum :)

today was extremely tiring :[

lately the nights have been so cold so i practically had to force myself to wake up this morning and not sleep back again and bathe in the cold water and get ready to become a facilitator for the Kelab Remaja Jim Explorace Game 16th Dec 2007 at Taman Tasik Shah Alam.

i was in charge of a checkpoint, the 2nd one behind Laman Budaya on an island. the task that i was in charge with was that:

1. the group had to divide themselves into boys and girls.
2. the boys had to search for 6 envelopes with a blue circle.
3. whereas the girls have to look for 6 envelopes with a green square.
4. when they have found all 12 envelopes around the island then they have to come back to me.
5. inside both the envelopes, there are 2 pictures that i have cut up and jumbled up and the boys and girls respectively have to solve the puzzle.
6. after they have finished putting all the pieces together, consequently they have to interpret the picture and this is where i test their creativity.
7. i make sure everyone expresses their opinions or else i threaten to reduce their marks!
8. only after i am satisified hence i give them their next clue and wish em luck!

my checkpoint was not difficult at all because the island was small and so there were limited places to cover up the envelopes. basically i just placed them behind a rock or stuffed the envelope in the leaves of a small tree and i wanted to put one on a tortoise's back but it went underwater, huhu :p

initially i wanted the BIG playground beside wetworld but it was too risky as kids would interfere as there were many parents accompanying their kids playing there and that place was also too far from the other checkpoints so i had to give in and settle for the island, huhu~
besides, my island had a boat :D

this explorace was for high school kids and there were grouped with age and gender difference. there were 6 groups for 6 checkpoints and at first, we wanted to maximise the WHOLE of Taman Tasik Shah Alam but in the end, we had to settle using only half of the park. this is because it's really tiring to be going making that full round and moreover, there was time constraints and the fear of heavy rain in the afternoon. in spite of starting late, we still managed to finished the explorace some time after zuhur.

as usual, i had a SMASHING time except at the beginning when i had to wait all alone while the sun stuck its head out and i was wondering when will the 1st group come and attacked me as i practiced giving out my orders, haha :p

the kids were a delight but it just upsets me that some kids do not see the urgency to actually run searching high and low for the envelopes like they just don't see the need to compete and hurry because they are racing for time! i think that everyone has seen The Amazing Race and how the partners just races here and there and everywhere and doing all the task as if their life depended on it but that just doesn't happened much in this explorace and i feel a sense of GERAM as i feel like i want to rush these kids and do whatever it takes to make them see that my checkpoint, though not 100% challenging as i like it to be but still, this is an explorace and they have to perform to excel!

overall, i like to facilitate and i do so believe that maybe i am meant to be a teacher :)

addiction

so this hols is taking a toll on me...

now i know what it's like to be addicted...

i know that i have a recurring compulsion to engage in my addiction despite harmful consequences to my health, physical and mental state or social life.

there's something uncontrolled and compulsive inside of me that's overpowering me and making me succumb to my addiction...

i have tried to abstain, refrain, hold back, everything to overcome my addiction but still, i fail and at times, my addiction increases rather than decreases...

The development of my addiction is thought to involve a simultaneous process of 1) increased focus on and engagement in a particular behavior and 2) the attenuation or "shutting down" of other behaviors.

i have begun to realize that what i have is generally accepted that addiction is a disease, a state of physiological or psychological dependence or devotion to something manifesting as a condition in which medically significant symptoms liable to have a damaging effect are present.

yes, it can be damaging because i could become fat and obese and my cheeks will be bloated and puffy and chubby and then it could take a turn for the worse as i slowly have low self-esteem and i don't wanna see anyone anymore and i just wanna be indoors and sulked and that won't be helping because i could turn to being addicted again and again...

The speed with which i become addicted to various foods varies with the foods, the frequency of use, the means of ingestion, the intensity of pleasure or euphoria, and my genetic and psychological susceptibility.

perhaps addiction is a choice, but i still need help...

a new template i like! ;D

so how do you like my new template? i did say i was gonna change it and i fell in love at 1st sight with this template so i have changed it but still not 100% finished or in my terms, as perfect as i want this template to be :D

what's bugging me is that there's still a difference in this new template when you look at it in mozilla and ie. i know ie is pretty outdated and nobody really fancies ie but this template still looks beautiful in ie! but i'm at my wits end trying to figure out how to solve that problem so i'll just have to be contented because this new template is gonna stay with me for a looooong time now ;)

so what color font would be most suitable to match in an entry? or will black just do?

btw, that's a picture of my cousin Aqilah or nama manja, qila or ila who lives in section 7 with my ayahsu doctor and ciksu teacher and her brother zafri who will start schooling next year. she's 2 years old and sometimes stubborn and she likes to eat while running around and today when i lepak2 at her house, she snatched my handphone and licked it! eeeewwwww! :p

secret recipe and the golden compass

today was a pretty good day :)

firstly, Happy Birthday to my elder bro who's turning 24 years old currently at home. may Allah bestow him with all the blessings :)

i woke up early today because the day b4, abah bought french bread and garlic spread and i was supposed to do garlic bread from the mini oven and it was not really as good as the ones you get in bread stores but it was okayyy, huhu

another reason why i woke up early was because today was Secret Recipe's 10th anniversary and the store was celebrating it by doing a promotion that when you buy 1 whole cake then you are entitled for a free whole cake! now, that's tempting! it's only happening on the 10th Dec 2007, at 10 outlets and according to The Star article, Secret Recipe is giving away approximately 6,0000 whole cakes! whoa!

i targeted to get to the sacc mall (the only secret recipe store doing the promotion in shah alam) by 9.30am but mama wasn't feeling well this morning and she insisted that i take her to work. and then the wira was out of fuel so had to fill it up and all of that took 20 minutes or so. so i speeded to take nad and then we were off to sacc and straight to.....

THANK YOU to zahrah for basically safe guarding the line for us. well, it may seem unfair but she was gonna share the purchase of the cake with nad and i was...erm...a friend :p

oh, i do feel guilty but well, let's just say that we don't do this all the time and it's not like anyone out there has never done it so there! :">

along is surely lucky that his birthday falls on the same day that Secret Recipe is doing this promotion because i stand in the line for an hour until i finally bought White Chocolate Macadamia Cake and got to choose a free Chocolate Indulgence Cake...oooo, ain't that yummy shummy to you!

actually i don't really fancy Chocolate Indulgence though i know many people love it but the choice was limited and i wanted my family to not complain so darn it, i just chose something familiar to their tastebuds :D

now those 2 cakes are WHOLE and BIG and it will last my family for a month supply of cakes, hahaha and calories people, watch the weight, huhuhu~

so i watched The Golden Compass and i love it! i never thought that the ending would be in a cliffhanger but that's just the trick to keep me wanting more, yeah, i know ;p

besides, the movie is based on a book and probably that's the first book and it was mighty fine! i have always taken an immense LOVE towards fantasy stories and i guess i have never outgrown kids fantasy tale coz that's why i just love Harry Potter and LOTR and Narnia and etc.

The Golden Compass took my breath away for many of its scenes and the animations and all the CGI and the animals, uuu, i so love watching the animals!

the idea that every human has a daemon that is like your soul is pretty cool in a way...

like n3mah said, it's like we humans will always have a companion so we won't get bored and that a daemon in a form of an animal will kinda protect us and i want a SNOW TIGER, maybe just like the one that Lord Asriel has because it looks really super cool! or maybe just a tiger ;p

and i'm gonna name it something that sounds like the witch's name in the movie because that name sounds nice, Serafina Pekkala, hehe :p

i'll think about that later :p

actually i don't really fancy Lyra, hmm..can't really say but i have seen better fantasy kid actors than her, huhu...

and just a ponder [not that i'm preaching or anything] but doesn't the story sort of influence kids to tell tall tales?! i mean, Lyra is bright, yes and she knows when to be cunning but do the kids as audience get that?! i don't really care about the controversy concerning this movie since it's about religion but this is what has become my concern when i watched it...

could be the 'teacherly aura' that's in me that's asking this questions?! :p

lyra: well, u see teacher...there was this blabla blabla, u get the picture?!

like when she made a bet to Billy Costa and told the king of the biggie bear, Pantalaimon the story of how she became Iorek Byrnison's daemon but she's really not, geddit? well you will if you watched it :p

don't get me wrong, i love that part but i'm saying about the reality of it, haha, bajet serious :p

but i do so love the story and can't wait for the part II :D

tale of the afghan girl

Assalamualaikum :)

so i have just finished reading Reader's Digest Nov 2007 issue and i wanted to make a personal response towards the section, RD Book Bonus entitled The Other Side of the Sky by Farah Ahmedi.

it's about the writer's journey from her war-torn country to freedom as in where she is now, in Chicago, USA. it all started when she was 7 years old and it was a time when she probably was oblivious to her surroundings and all she wanted to do was go to school and gather as much knowledge as she can in her spongey brain.

the best part was that she had always wondered what the sky was like and what was on the other side of the sky? this thought is just sooo cute and shows how innocent she was at that moment and i pictured her with her hair so smooth with the wind blowing and she is standing on tiptoe looking up at the sky, hehe :)

but she never reached school because she woke up with her family members saying that she had stepped on a land mine, oh dear...

because there was lack of medicine in Afghanistan, she was chosen to go to Germany and there, her leg was amputated and she was given a prosthetic leg. she grew to love Germany and you can't really blame her as she gradually understands the circumstances in her country. it just saddens me that not only does she had to lose her leg at such a young age but she was also separated from her family and her birth place is in such a mess, just makes you grateful huh..

when she returned back to Afghanistan, she rebel at the fact that she probably was even raised there, well, i think it's because she was turning into a teen then and well, you can just imagine what teenagers are going through and the fact that she has been to Germany probably makes her compare both countries. but then she stop rebelling and it made my heart applause for her because she's finally coming to terms with her Afghan roots :)

then the worst happened and when i was reading it, i felt the dread too and it was that her father and two sisters got killed because a rocket had hit their house :'(

that was sooo sad because it's like, somehow, their house was just gonna be hit since there were always rockets zooming past and i gripped my heart at the thought of living hearing the rockets everyday knowing that at the end, the rockets did hit their home, sob...

the Taliban rule Afghanistan now and they wanted all families to give up boys to build up troops. Farah had 2 brothers, however, their family was from a different ethnic group, Hazaras and the Taliban had a special hatred towards Hazaras so maybe they would execute Hazaras boys. so it was decided that the Hazaras boys escape Afghanistan to Pakistan. her brothers were 16 and 9 years old respectively and they held hands as they walked out leaving behind their families forever and Farah wrote that, I never saw my brothers again.

i shed a tear reading that because i could never ever imagine separating from any of my family members and never seeing them, like forever~

the following story continued as Farah and her mother too planned their escape to Quetta, a city on the Pakistan side of the Afghan border. they journeyed through thick and thin and i read in admiration that desperation does do wonders and that both of them were determined to start a new life somewhere and that they just had to get there!

i was rooting for them!

they became refugees but i guess it was better because they still had hope. what saddens me is that a Christian organisation helped them to get to America. where are the muslims? :<

eventhough at first, Farah and her mother's hopes were dashed because of the sept 11 but in the end, they finally arrived at America and now, they're living in Chicago and slowly, both of them are picking up the pieces in their lives.

this is one tale of a girl who wanted to know what the sky looked liked when she was young and now she finally went to the other side of the sky and maybe she got her answer after all :)

I have been contemplating on updating my blog and it’s not that I don’t want to but just that I have no inspiration on what topic to touch on, huhu :]

So I have just watched Enchanted and I am left…enchanted! Hehe ;)

This is because I have always liked feel good movies plus it’s from Disney, my all-time favorite ;)
p/s: furthermore, I can’t really watch those movies that make me lemah-jantung, haha :p

Enchanted’s a whimsical story of fantasy and wish-fulfillment that will have you giggling almost as much as Giselle and certainly leave you smiling from ear to ear. It will make you believe that happily-ever-afters do come true after all.

The movie made me grin and feeling all lovey dovey and watching in awe at how Amy Adams is so dazzling as the displaced damsel, no doubt a Disney icon for young girls everywhere. She’s a cartoon incarnate with a personality as cheery and bouncy as the strawberry-blonde ringlets that cascade over her tiara. Her mannerisms are flowery, her giggle is sugary sweet, her eyes sparkle in wonderment. Her transformation from caricature to dynamic human being is a treat to watch.

And so I downloaded the OST because the songs are haunting and I don’t really fancy Carrie Underwood but the song, Ever Ever After is starting to be ringing in my head, ever ever after~

And do I believe in ever ever after? Of course I do and why is that?! Because when your love is based on the grounds of the Islamic pillars and Allah blesses your love, as in marriage of course then it’s surely ever ever after!
Who disagrees?! [raised eyebrows :p]
