100th POST!

Bismillah, Assalamualaikum MySpace

This is a celebration!

My 100th post!

But what is there to celebrate?!

Its not like I'm planning to stop writing and wait till you see that I will be the next Awang Goneng, the writer of Growing up in Trengganu because his writings have started from non-stop blogging, very fascinating indeed!

I dunno what to write anyway, just that I'm bummed I didnt get to finish the last book of the Twilight Saga entitled Breaking Dawn, the fourth book, sigh~

and why do people keep drooling over Edward Cullen, hehe, okay I know one of em is you Z but reallyyy, Emmett is by far the coolest macho-est vampire I have set eyes on, LOL MySpace

I wish I could write the spoilers here, haha, since I have nothing to write, that would make my blog get block, huhu MySpace

So didja know that my 017 phone number is a celcom now? thought I publicly announced this piece of news because celcom has been very kind and put me as a UpaX, and so far I have been spending little on phone credit then when I was using Maxis, this is because the majority of my friends are using celcom. and why do unmarried couples like to use the 3+1, I dun geddit, because I dont see any ties that would bind an unmarried couple, its baffling but then again, in this kind of world, you never can tell...

life can pass so fast,
like driving with your foot on the gas
hoping to catch it, i dont know
where it's going to end

Escapism by doing Tags

Bismillah, Assalamualaikum MySpace

So if a friend tag me and if there is so much time and nothing much to compose and write therefore I would comply even if the tag is dorky (no offence kak azura, hehe) but I had my share of dorky tags becoming un-dorky, huhu, just of matter of the tag becoming wow with a sprinkle of magic dust somewhere MySpace

1) do you think you’re hot?
I told you some tags are downright dorky and the answer to this question is if I get rashes then I think I may be a tad hot.

2) upload your favourite picture of you
nahh, cant be bothered MySpace

3) what do you like about that picture?
I wish I was photogenic, sigh~

4) when was the last time u ate pizza?
yesterday! Dominos Delivery, 2 large pizza for RM50! and the chinese guy on the phone was really funny! at first, he kept calling me Malihah then Matihah then it was just miss thank God, and he was like super friendly, I wanted to know about the promotions and he was like OF COURSE THERE IS A PROMOTION!!, ok miss, you know what, bla bla, and then when he suggested taking the super fine crust of one of the pizza, he was practically gushing about how the crust was crispy and thin and it was like he was doing an advertisement and I couldnt help giggling on the other line! [I prefer thick crust with lotsa generous amount of cheese but my dad insisted on the thin crust]. Then when my mom wanted breadsticks, he was like, okay okay, I am going to cut the price especially for you, discount price for you miss Malihah, LOL! regardless whether its discounted or not, it was really funny and I genuinely express my utmost gratitude to him for really knowing how to handle a customer, hehe MySpace

5) the last song u listened to?
The Script - Breakeven
I totally recommend The Script, an Irish band, totally cool, not just the music but the lyrics as well, especially the words they write!

6)what are u doing right now besides this?
compelling myself to finish my thesis!

7)what name would u prefer besides yours?
this is out of the question but I just wanna say that everytime I mention my name, people would always associate it with Madihah Dunia Baru, sheesh people, just because my name was famous because of her, it doesnt mean that every response I would get would be...ooo macam nama kat dunia baru tu, yeah, whatever, cut the crap, rolling my eyes! and it get soooo annoying when my students would say that I am just as kalut as the Madihah from Dunia Baru, oh man, reallyyy
MySpace

ppl i tag :

everyone with a story to tell through tags, hehe, because sometimes I find that tags has the questions and if you're bored enough, you can actually use em as guides, eee, I'm actually saying this, creepyyy MySpace

so this is what thesis writing can do to you and WARNING!! I have only a week left and my socks are not pulled up yet, probably its because I have been wearing the same socks so time for a change, sigh~

The Answer and Many More...

Bismillah, Assalamualaikum MySpace

1. I can eat the same meal for days if I am just so into it.
2. I love to drive over the speed limit.
3. I need a blanket to sleep.
4. I have to arrange stuffs or else I feel distressful.

So here's the answer:

No 1 is the lie or it's false, it's not true, whichever, the fact is even if I love that certain meal but because I am the variety type therefore I would not repeat the same meal for days, I just have to change menu, hehe

I love to drive over the speed limit because I love to speed, surprise huh, well, its true, now if only my wira could take me over 120... MySpace MySpace

I just need a blanket to sleep and the reason is too sappy to write here, hihi MySpace

and No 4 is just so true since everyone knows I have OCD, everyone? particularly everyone MySpace

away for the weekend~

and did you know that when a heart breaks, it don't break even?
I sort of know but never found the words for it and now, The Script-Breakeven made it all clear.

Coz I got time while she got freedom
Coz when a heart breaks no it don't break even

Her best days will be some of my worst
She finally met a man that's gonna put her first
While I'm wide awake she's no trouble sleeping
Coz when a heart breaks no it don't break even, even no

What am I suppose to do when the best part of me was always you?
What am I suppose to say when I'm all choked up and you're OK?
I'm falling to pieces, yeah
I'm falling to pieces

They say bad things happen for a reason
But no wise words gonna stop me bleeding
Coz she's moved on while I'm still grieving
And when a heart breaks no it dont break even, even, no

What am I gonna do when the best part of me was always you?
What am I suppose to say when I'm all choked up and you're OK?
I'm falling to pieces, yeah
I'm falling to pieces, yeah
I'm falling to pieces
I'm falling to pieces

You got his heart and my heart and none of the pain
You took your suitcase, I took the blame
Now I'm trying to make sense of what little remains
Coz you left with no love, with no love to my name

so basically, if you're not thinking of getting marry anytime soon then don't be so weak to fall in love because hearts will break and it dont break even which is really sad because a party will always hurt the most MySpace

your past sins will become your atmosphere of suspicion today, tomorrow and forever.

On another note, Congratulations to brides and grooms who's having their wedding in this month marking the end of 2008. Let's hope next year brings good news, huhu MySpace

Lets Play!

Bismillah, Assalamualaikum MySpace

Three Truths and a Lie
Write 4 statements about oneself: one of the statements should be false while 3 should be true. The goal is to fool people about which is the lie. Try to guess which is the lie.

Tips:
It would be better if it were own personal quirks and idiosyncrasies, pet peeves and dislikes, or the most bizarre situations you've ever been in!

1. I can eat the same meal for days if I am just so into it.
2. I love to drive over the speed limit.
3. I need a blanket to sleep.
4. I have to arrange stuffs or else I feel distressful.

So can you guess?!

This is a great ice-breaking game and I totally recommend it because I have done it before in one of the JMK's activity but the group has to be smaller, maximum of 5 people because some people tend to go on and on (well, you know how we girls are!) and then there are the opposites of these kind of people but that's okay as long as they talk but of course, the idea is to be animated and enthusiastic because not only do you want to fool them but you also want to humour them thus the ice would slowly crumble and you find yourself saying hey, this person is cool and I wanna be friends with her/him, hehe, or wow, what a personality, this person could be good in ... well, whatever right? you get the picture?

and its also good if every one in the group can draft out what they wanna say in paper first because it took me ages to think of really good ones and I am not sure that's puzzling enough but lets just see shall we!

So guess mine and then I tag everyone in my list of bloggers to have a go and inform me when you're ready for me to guess!

and the answer will be in my next post!

i give up...

Bismillah, Assalamualaikum MySpace

I give up...

that's right...

I give up on...

writing my thesis without eating! MySpace

and the stress just keeps coming don't they...

having insomnia

sleeping late

waking up late

binge-eating

blog hopping whereas I'm supposed to construct sentences

keep on paraphrasing which is risky

eating again

reading 2 books at once and none of them concerning academic

day dreaming

going to the pantry to ...

acne on cheeks sign of stress

ulcer in gum and mouth another sign of stress

have I mention I ate as another sign of under a lot of pressure?

surfing the internet

singing

eating. yes. yet again.

so don't say anything when you see me, sigh~

But those who have faith and work righteousness, they are Companions of the Garden therein shall they abide (for ever).

Yoga contradicts the teachings of Islam, can't you see that?!

Bismillah, Assalamualaikum MySpace

I would like to call people's attention out there on this email I have received:

Dear All,

Something to ponder.....

Februari 2009

Orang Islam dilarang meminum root beer.

April 2009

Jun 2009

Orang Islam dilarang keluar negara.

Please do not laugh. Many of the above will become a reality if we do not do anything. The rational-thinking muslims in this country are simply not doing anything. We let a very small minority of narrow-minded idiots to control our lives. We, especially the Malay muslims, are fast becoming a laughing stock worldwide. We are obsessed with the little things. When there are so many important things to be done, why must the Fatwa folks spend their time on little things, tomboys, yoga, etc, etc. Why don't we ever hear anything from the Fatwa folks for social justice, eradicating corruption and poverty, protecting single mothers, helping the poors, educating the ummah, protecting the environment or ensuring fairness in society.

I pity the person who construct these sentences and then forwarded this to many people out there and perhaps there are some people out there who actually took pleasure in reading this so-called joke! MySpace

But then again, why am I surprised! There are Malay Muslims out there who just refuse to follow their leaders who are actually educated and has made the Fatwa based on thorough readings and research and disseminate this information to the public but some people just refuse to believe it and God knows for what reasons! WHY is it that some people wanna hold onto the fact that they still could actually find excuses that they still can do yoga?! Why would you wanna do something that is in another religion in spite of everything in Islam is already complete?! Why dont you just follow the true complete teachings of Islam in the Holy Quran and Sunnah?

Why make a big fuss over the fatwa when yoga is already banned in Egypt and Singapore? and the enforcement is only to the Muslims so it is really unnecessary for non-muslims to feel offended. and the fatwa is a big deal but Malay Muslims just make a big fuss because we are ignorant and we refuse to see the big picture! For further readings, READ Islamic Theology and Philosophy Prof Dr Abdulfatah Haron Ibrahim 262-page study on Yoga, Tasawur & Islam and the gist of it is that Yoga contradicts the teachings of Islam because the ultimate purpose of yoga is to become one with God and Muslims never become one with Allah, we just get to meet Him in the afterlife. So to those people in the dark, read up before you take up a hobby, it won't hurt though ignorance is indeed bliss.

This is also a reminder to myself, IS IT SO HARD TO DO?! MySpace

Scrabble Tips For Beginners by a Beginner :D

Bismillah, Assalamualaikum MySpace

I have always loved board games in particular, perhaps it's because I grew up in England where board games are major cool and my parents always incite us siblings to play board games by buying lotsa board games and this would result in us being more close-knit MySpace

But I love Scrabble more and this could be because I love letters better than numbers, words better than formulas and language better than maths, huhu MySpace

Though I have been to 2 Scrabble Tournaments but because I lack training and practice therefore I am still an amateur/beginner and I actually didn't mind at all of the label until I realized that I got fascinated with the game so much to want to be, at least one or two notches up from being an amateur/beginner AND the fact that I had lost to a kid (hey, age is not a factor okay, the youngest master is in FORM 3 now, and he is soooo cool when he plays!) in the Malacca Open Scrabble Tournament, haha MySpace

So I thought I give some insights and tips on people out there who's interested in Scrabble because you should be, it is something intellectual and there were so few muslims there, I was the only Malay girl with hijab and no offence but this kind of thing reflects how muslims [since I am a muslim and for that reason, I urge muslims to take up an intellectual pastime] rarely take up intelligent challenges and competitions whilst spreading the joy of Islam! I remember Ira Sahri participating in a treasure hunt organized by a local newspaper and she learnt so much while commenting that her group was made up of Malay girls wearing hijab.

Anyway, back to what I intend to propagate to all Scrabble wannabes out there:

1. Your English won't be improve when playing Scrabble.
WHY?! Because some words are incredulously bizarre and not even enlisted in the English dictionary! In spite of that, the words are cool and you get to widen plus impress your peers with the vast Scrabble vocab there is just that you better not use those vocabs in your formal essays, huhu MySpace

2. You have to memorize the 2 and 3 letter words!
This is so that you won't kill the game by not knowing what words to put and additionally, knowing the 2 and 3 letter words are imperative so that it can give way to add words in front or at the back of the 2 and 3 letter words.

3. By all means, when you try to memorize the Scrabble dictionary, try to memorize the meaning of the words as well.
Most people I meet just memorize the words but when I enthusiastically wanna learn on the meaning and ask but alas, they can't give me the answer as they dunno, huhu MySpace

4. Sometimes targeting for the highest score may not be the answer.
Its a game of strategy just like chess because not only do you want a high score but you also want to make a momentous move so that you won't make way for your opponent to score high plus you don't want to make 2 letter words just for the score, but desperate calls for desperate measures I guess MySpace

5. Shuffle your letters and shuffle it hard!
You should make it a habit (I am trying too myself). This is because by doing so will increase your chances of seeing that BINGO [7 letter word] you wanted your whole life, hehe, well, at least, you get to see more extraordinary scrabble words to put on the board.

Basically, your knowledge of the English vocabulary may be immense but you're not gonna win if you don't equip yourself with the Scrabble vocab because its, how do I put it, more vital? just as crucial, well, you decide but you better train with familiarity on the Scrabble vocabulary and only then will you play with stride!

and that's what I wanna do, progress, even if I chickened out in upcoming tournaments but I would want to pass my Scrabble knowledge to my students and children and I might just train them to become master! Actually, that's what I will do!

So here are some examples of wacky Scrabble words:
abakas
babka
cocas
dadas
eterne
feoff
gigas
hahas
ictic
jowls
kamik
lulu
malmy
nance
oops
popsy
qiviuts
roar
shes
tate
usque
vivas
waws
xerus
yolky
zooty

phew~

I Hate This Part...

Bismillah, Assalamualaikum :D

I'm at home for the long hols just like the school kids for the last time of my undergraduate life.

I am currently listening to PCD's I Hate This Part and the lyric has inspired me to write my own I Hate This Part :D

I hate this part that I have 5 more months to go because I can't hardly wait for it to end, but then again, I know that when I start working, I'll miss my student life, it's always like that, human nature...

I hate this part that the media ONLY interviews the urban kids on their UPSR achievement. what about the rural kids? and what about their opinions on English for science and mathematics?! I have my own personal dilemma about the issue because I can see the many benefits of using English but since I have taught a rural school before therefore I have seen these kids struggle in understanding English and what's more English in science and mathematics! YES, there is still the gap between the urban and rural schools and it exists for some people to take action but before action is to be taken hence there should be enlightenment and exposure but where is it? where is the faces of kids who went through hardships and succeed? and where is the faces of those who did not and why aren't we addressing the reason of why they didn't succeed? there are kids who are downright lazy but there are also kids who are slow and need just that little bit of scaffolding and would prove us wrong if we prove them right!

which reminds me of a movie I watched earlier on entitled FREEDOM WRITERS starring Hilary Swank. I totally recommend this movie to everyone out there because it's inspiring and moving plus based on a true story so I felt driven more to be a teacher after watching that movie. It's about a teacher who had to go against so many people including her own loving husband to prove that the class she was teaching was 'teachable' and can succeed in their own right. The technique was she made her students write jurnals and as a result, she was able to see what her students saw and the movie points out that the pen is mightier than the sword.

the movie strongly reminds me of Big Pumpkin but somehow I know that jurnal writing in English will be difficult for my students unless they really wanna do it in the second language. But when I become a teacher later on, I would definitely make my students write jurnals and they can even do so in Bahasa because I just want them to write and through writing, maybe I get to do so much more than just teaching [BIG ALTRUISTIC DREAMS, yeah I know]

I hate this part that I always feel that urban kids or if not urban, the advanced students would be so much easier to teach and they would definitely do the jurnal writing, sigh~
Though I know that it's better to reach out to the below average kids...

I hate this part that when my students sms me, I can't seem to reply their messages because sometimes I am busy, sometimes all they ask is 'Teacher buat ape?' or sometimes, hmm...takpela tak balas pun, tsk tsk...coming from me who has big altruistic dreams, huhu

I hate this part that I have project paper to finish to wrap up my degree.

I hate this part that there's nothing good on telly.

I hate this part that I'm actually telling people to tag me, haha coz I'm bored and besides, I like tags now, hehe :p

The world slows down but my heart beats fast right now
I know this is the part where the end starts...

I hate this part right here
I just can't take your tears
I hate this part right here
